What is National Skill Qualification Framework?

The National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) is a quality assurance structure. NSQF groups academic credentials into levels of understanding, knowledge, and potential. These levels are described in aspects of learning outcomes. 

There are 10 levels in the National Skill Qualification Framework. 1st level is the entry-level and the 10th level is the highest, which is almost equal to an international doctorate. 

NSQF Level Descriptors 

Each level of NSQF is associated with descriptors. These descriptors are made of 5 outcome statements. In general terms, these descriptors help in understanding the basic learning, skill sets, and traits that a student must possess to get that level’s certification.

Each level has 5 descriptors – 

Process – The process domain summarises the other four domains that correlate to the level.

Professional Knowledge – Professional knowledge refers to what a student should learn and comprehend about a subject. It is classified according to its depth, breadth, types of knowledge, and complexity.

Professional Skill – A student’s professional skills are the things he or she should be capable to perform. These are classified according to the types and levels of difficulty of the skills.

Core Skill – The basic abilities requiring flexibility and the use of methodologies, materials, techniques, and strategies utilized for completing the work, including IT skills required for that level, are referred to as core skills.

Responsibility – The form of professional connections, level of responsibility for oneself and others, handling growth, and consequences for acts are all determined by responsibility.

The descriptions provide broad, basic, yet useful assessments of each level’s learning results.

10 Levels of National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF)
Level 1
Process – Level 1 of the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) allows an individual to do activities that are repeated regularly and do not require any prior experience.
Professional Knowledge – An individual should be aware of regular industry language, instructional terms, and their meanings and comprehension.
Professional Skill – Taking safety and security precautions is basic and persistent.
Core Skill – Reading and comprehension, basic arithmetic, financial planning, religious and social diversity, cleanliness, and the surroundings are all skills that may be learned.
Responsibility – The individual has no responsibility as such but, they constantly need to follow directions and are closely supervised.
Level 2
Process – Allows an individual to do activities that are repeated regularly with less comprehension and much expertise.

Professional Knowledge – The individual should be able to comprehend the background of job and excellence, as well as technical resources and their use in a restricted setting.

Professional Skill – Confined-service expertise being used in a particular context, selecting and using equipment, assisting in professional activities with no confounders distinguishes good from bad quality.
Core Skill – The individual should be able to communicate and exchange written and spoken messages, fundamental mathematics, personal finance, social, political, and cultural diversity, cleanliness, and environmental awareness.
Responsibility – The individual has no responsibility as such but, they constantly need to follow directions and are closely supervised.
Level 3
Process – An individual may work in a profession that requires a restricted set of activities that are regular and understandable.
Professional Knowledge – The individual should know the Simple facts, procedures, and principles used in the employment sector.
Professional Skill – The learner should be able to recollect and demonstrate practical expertise that is regular and repeatable, in a limited range of applications.
Core Skill – Written and spoken communication with minimal clarity, fundamental mathematics, and algebraic concepts, personal banking, and a basic grasp of the social and natural surroundings are all required skills.
Responsibility – The learner should have partial responsibility for the personal job within established limits under close surveillance.
Level 4
Process – An individual should work in an environment that is known, regular, and habitual, with a clear decision.
Professional Knowledge – The learner should have a factual understanding of a subject or field of study.
Professional Skill – The learner should be able to remember and exhibit practical skills in a limited area of application, applying the proper rule and instrument, and using quality concepts.
Core Skill – The learner should have the ability to interact well in writing or orally, fundamental arithmetic and mathematical concepts, and a basic awareness of social, political, and ecological environments.
Responsibility – The learner should take responsibility for his learning and work. 
Level 5
Process – Level 5 allows the learner to have a job that involves a high level of competence, as well as a good understanding of processes in a familiar setting.
Professional Knowledge – In an area of job or research, understanding of data, concepts, methods, and broad ideas is required.
Professional Skill – A set of intellectual and practical abilities needed to complete tasks and solve issues by choosing and implementing fundamental procedures, instruments, resources, and data.
Core Skill – Mathematics, social and political awareness, and some ability to obtain and organize information, as well as communication, are all desirable.
Responsibility – The individual should take responsibility for his learning and work. He should also take partial responsibility for others’ learning and work. 
Level 6
Process – Level 6 of NSQF necessitates a broad variety of specific technical expertise, the accuracy of the information, and practice in a wide range of activities including native and foreign methods.
Professional Knowledge – The individual should know the expertise of facts and theories in wide perspectives within an area of employment or research.
Professional Skill – A set of intellectual and technical abilities are needed to solve difficulties in a particular sector of employment or research.
Core Skill – the individual should be relatively good in mathematical equations, social and political awareness, data collection, data management, and logical communication.
Responsibility – The individual should take responsibility for his learning and work along with others. 
Level 7
Process – Level 7 demands a broad range of specific theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as the ability to work in various routine and non-routine situations.
Professional Knowledge – The individual should understand how comprehensive, practical, and conceptual knowledge is applied to a broad environment within an area of employment or research.
Professional Skill – A comprehensive set of intellectual and technical abilities is needed to solve particular issues in a field of employment or research.
Core Skill – Good mathematical and logical skills with an awareness of the social, political, and ecological environments are needed.  skills in primary research and organization, communication, and presentation are also important. 
Responsibility – The individual should be able to take full responsibility for the group’s output and development. 
Level 8
Process, Professional Knowledge, and Skill – Level 8 of NSQF demands thorough, intellectual, theoretical understanding, and practical expertise for developing innovative solutions to complex problems. The learner should undertake self-study. Intellectual freedom, analytical rigor, and effective communication are demonstrated at this level. 
Core Skill and Responsibility – The individual should be able to exercise administration and management in the context of employability or research with unpredictable changes. He should take responsibility for his and others’ growth. 
Level 9

Process, Professional Knowledge, and Skill – At this level excellent skills and knowledge completion of considerable study and dissertation, critical grasp of the topic, and exhibiting mastery and originality are needed. 

Core Skill and Responsibility – The person should be in charge of making decisions in difficult technological operations with unpredictably changing study/work situations.
Level 10
Process, Professional Knowledge, and Skill – The final level of NSQF demands highly specific expertise and problem-solving potential to make a unique addition to learning through academic research and scholarship. 
Core Skill and Responsibility – In uncertain and complex work/study scenarios, the individual should be able to take charge of strategic decisions.

The National Curriculum Framework is an educational structure that is designed with regional and cultural diversity, as well as the social environment, in mind. The key goals of the National Curriculum framework perfectly align with the National Skill Qualification Framework.

It is widely known that academic institutions charge students a substantial amount of money for academic programs. However, even after learning for several years, pupils are unable to achieve the necessary standards and are not employed.
