Became Director General of Unicef Chile in 1978. Founded Unicef Chile in 1980 to address child poverty and disease in Latin America. Received the Prince of Asturias Award for Social Progress in 1988. Died on December 8, 2018

On October 8, 2018, the Google Doodle celebrated Dr.ildaura Murillo-Rohde, an Argentinian physician and women’s health advocate. Murillo-Rohde was born on October 8th, 1926 in Buenos Aires. She completed her medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires in 1953 and began working as a doctor. Murillo Rohde’s work focused on women’s health, and she became one of Argentina’s most respected doctors.  In 1984, Murillo-Rohde was awarded the prestigious Ramón Magsaysay Award for Public Service. She passed away on September 5, 2001.

Dr.ildaura Murillo-Rohde, a Hispanic doctor and humanitarian, was honoured with a Google Doodle on International Women’s Day. Born in 1935 in Tijuana, Mexico, became a pediatrician  humanitarian  as a nurse during the 1960s in Mexico City. She helped establish several medical clinics for impoverished children and advocated for more women to become doctors. Why was the Google Doodle created in her honour?

Google created a Google Doodle in honour of Dr.ildaura Murillo-Rohde, an eminent physician and scientist. Who dedicated her life to improving the quality of life for others. She completed her training at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  Research dedicating herself to finding new ways to improve the health of people around the world. In 2006, she was awarded the prestigious Lasker Medical Research Award for her heart disease work. Murillo-Rohde died in 2015 at 87 after a long battle with cancer. Her legacy lives on through her work and will continue to benefit society long after she is gone.
