Ball houses are a fun way to get your kids outside and enjoy nature. They can be made from recycled materials, which makes them eco-friendly and less expensive than buying one off the shelf. If you’re interested in making your own ball house, but don’t want to spend money on materials, here’s how:
what is a ball house
The ball house is a play structure for kids. It’s usually a large box with a roof, but it can be anything from an igloo to a fort or even just a tent. Inside the ball house, kids have lots of space to play with balls and other toys. Outside the ball house, they can create their own adventures using the materials around them (like sticks).
how to make it
You can make a ball house for kids with PVC pipe, mesh, and plywood.
Cut the mesh into squares that are 1 inch by 1 inch. Use an X-acto knife or scissors to cut them into squares about 2 inches wide and 3 inches long. You should have about 4 square pieces of mesh for each level of your house (4 layers).
Use the same measurement as above to cut 6-foot lengths of PVC pipe into 3 pieces each (for the top layer), 4 pieces each (for the middle layer), and 5 pieces each (for the bottom layer).
How to make an epic ball house for kids?
To make an epic ball house for kids, you need to:
Make sure that the structure is safe. Children shouldn’t be able to climb on top of it or swing from its branches. If your child’s friends are small enough to fit inside the house, then consider adding a railing so they can’t fall out or get hurt.
Make sure that it’s fun for kids who live there too! If your kid has friends over all the time and wants them in there with him/her then he/she will love playing in his/her own little world where nothing bad happens ever again (unless he/she decides not to go outside).
Make sure this thing lasts forever because one day when he grows up maybe someday he’ll have kids too.
Material list for a ball house for kids
The materials you need to build your ball house are:
PVC pipe (1-foot diameter)
Mesh (2-inch squares)
Plywood (1/4-inch thick, 12 x 12 inches)
Wood glue and staples, if needed
Create the base and back of the box.
Use a circular saw to cut the plywood into two pieces, one for the base and one for the back of your box. The plywood should be at least 1/2″ thick; if it isn’t, use some additional pieces of scrap wood or cardboard as spacers between each piece so you don’t have any weak spots where your box will rest on top of them later in construction (when we’re attaching those legs). Make sure you leave enough open space around each edge so that there’s room for packaging supplies such as tape and boxes within reach when they’re needed most!
Cut the PVC pipe into shorter sections.
To cut the pipe into shorter sections, you’ll need to use a hacksaw. You can cut it into pieces about 2 feet long and 4 feet long. To make sure that your kids don’t get too bored or tired of playing with the house, consider cutting it in 6-foot sections so they can play with their friends outside of the house as well!
Create the roof frame.
Create the roof frame. Use PVC pipe to create a rectangular-shaped frame that is about 5 feet long and 4 feet wide, as shown in Figure 1. The longer side of this frame should be oriented toward your house so that it forms an L-shape when viewed from the outside (see Figure 2). You can use wood or metal for this part of your house; however, you’ll need to cut it at least twice as thick as needed so that it can support itself without collapsing under its own weight—the thinner materials won’t work well in this application anyway!
Cut down each end of each piece of PVC pipe into shorter sections (about 2 inches), then attach them together with lockset pins or glue if necessary; see Figure 3 for an example of using lockset pins instead of glue because they have fewer chemicals involved compared with certain glues which could damage some surfaces over time due to fumes emitted by their ingredients once applied onto surfaces like wood panels or drywall surfaces etcetera.”
Attach the roof frame to the house frame that you created in Step 1.
Now, attach the roof frame to the house frame that you created in Step 1. Use screws to join together both sides of your roof and make sure they are secured tightly against each other. You can also use nails if you prefer.
To measure where to place your screws, use a level and mark on top of each side where you’d like them to go so that you can drill right through before attaching them together with more screws later on down the line!
Install mesh to create ball pits.
Measure the length and width of your ball pit, then add 2 inches for a seam allowance. The total dimension should be about 4 feet by 4 feet (1.2 m x 1.2 m). If you’re using a bigger or smaller size, double or triple these measurements accordingly.*
Cut enough mesh for your desired depth in one piece—about 18 inches (45 cm)—and cut a square piece from each piece of mesh material so that you have enough for both sides of each wall section.*
Mark where holes need to go in each side of each wall section using pencils or chalk markers; this will help later when it comes time to install them!*
Cover mesh with plywood to create doors and walls in your ball house structure.
To create the doors and windows, you will need to use plywood. You can cut the pieces with a table saw or jigsaw. If you have access to a power saw at home, that would be ideal because it will make your job easier. To cover the plywood pieces with paint or stain, simply apply several coats of paint or stain in one direction until they are covered up completely. If you’re using wood glue for this project (which we recommend), use about 2 pounds per square foot of material for maximum adhesion between surfaces during the assembly process; however, if using staples instead then just ensure that each piece has enough length so no gaps appear when assembling them together later on!
Ball houses are super fun and they look cool!
Ball houses are a great way to play with your kids. They can be used to play with balls or other toys. The ball house is easy to make and it’s fun for kids of all ages!
The best part about this project is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on materials before you start building your ball house! You have plenty of time in between projects so go ahead and make one today!
This is a great project for kids, but if you want to make it even better, we recommend adding some outdoor lights and sounds. You can find more ideas in our blog post on how to build an outdoor sound system for balls!
