Suppose your proposed business idea involves you importing pre-packaged products or units of weights and measurements from a foreign land(s) for its sales and distribution in the country. In that case, you need to obtain legal approval from the Department of Legal Metrology. This legal approval is known as the Importer license. The Legal Metrology Department issues the required LMPC (Legal Metrology Prepackaged Commodities) Certificate for the required Importer’s license. Eligibility Criteria for Legal Metrology Certificate Registration for Importer’s License
To import any pre-packaged commodities or weights and measurement units from abroad, you need an Importer license issued by the Legal metrology department. According to the LMPC (Legal Metrology Packaged Commodity) Rules of 2011, every registered Importer must comply with the proposed regulations and provide mandatory declarations before starting the import. - Fill out the Importer’s license application form
