FEMA stands for Foreign Exchange Management Act, was passed in the parliament in 1999. The objective of enforcing the FEMA Act is to promote external trade and financial transactions across borders. The following are the proposed regulations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999, to enforce the foreign exchange management regulations in India:

  3. To impose restrictions on foreign payments coming from abroad. FEMA allows such transactions to be conducted by authorized individuals only-.

  5. To empower the apex financial institution to impose the necessary restrictions on selling and withdrawing foreign exchange currencies.
  6. Permitting Indian residents to own immovable or movable properties in foreign lands, bringing foreign currencies into the country, purchasing or inheriting any property outside India, and others.
  7. Establishing and enforcing guidelines for the import and export of commodities is one of the most important regulations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, some of them are mentioned below:
  1. FEMA guidelines related to importing rules.

  4. FEMA guidelines for export realization.

Applicability of FEMA Act
