Sidhu Moose Wala aka Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu was an Indian singer and actor who was critically acclaimed for his songs including PBX 1 (Album 2018), & 47 (Single 2019).
- “Best Album” went to his debut album at the Brit Asia TV Music Awards in 2019.
- Following the December 2020 release of his single “Panjab. Featuring a video featuring Khalistani separatist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. And a speech by Khalistani supporter Bharpur Singh Balbir from the late 1980s. He came under fire for the song’s portrayal of the Khalistani separatist.
- Tupac Shakur, a late American rapper, was one of his musical influences.
- Sidhu Moose Wala also likened the allegations leveled against him to those leveled against Sanjay Dutt in his song Sanju.
- In addition to his acting career, he was the owner of the film production company Jatt Life Studios.
- The 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election was held on December 3, 2021. He was defeated by the Aam Aadmi Party’s Vijay Singla with 63,323 votes.
- Sidhu Moose Wala’s songs were frequently criticized for glorifying guns. Avneet Sidhu, a sports photographer, had also taken issue with him for doing the same.
Death
- On May 28, 2022, then Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann partially revoked his security. On May 29, 2022, he was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.
- Sidhu also owned a bulletproof Toyota Fortuner. Which he failed to use on the day of his death, which was Sunday, May 29, 2022. Gurwinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh, two of Sidhu’s friends, were killed in a crash involving a Mahindra Thar.
- Lucky, a Canadian member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for his death. His Canada-based aide Goldy Brar also admitted to involvement in the attack.
