Effective measures to correct the cache amount for QuickBooks Enterprise

This section unravels effective solutions for correcting the cache amount in QuickBooks Enterprise software.

Solution 1: Using’ QBW.ini.’

  • Head to the computer server that is hosting the company data.
  • Access the ‘QBW.ini’ file within Intuit
  • Open ‘QBW.ini‘ file & subsequently add a ‘DBSERVEROPTIONS’ section using the below-mentioned values:
  • InitialCache= 256 (‘None’)
  • MaxCache= 512 (‘Unlimited’)
  • Afterward, save the file.
  • Press ‘Enter’ key to reflect the changes in the setting of the ‘.ini’
  • Now, shut down hosting from the ‘file’ menu and turn it back to the on state.
  • In the case of a ‘Server only install,’ you need to proceed as follows:
  • First, open the command prompt by pressing the ‘Win + R’ keys and then typing ‘cmd’ in the ‘Run’
  • Then, in the Command Prompt, type in: ‘net stop QuickBooksDBXX.’
  • Also, type in: ‘net stop QBCFMonitorService,’ followed by typing ‘start QBCFMonitorService.

Solution 2: Alter cache settings manually for Server-Only Install

  • Initially, open the ‘command prompt.’
  • Once the cmd window is open, Copy and paste the text given below: ‘HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QuickBooksDBxx\Parameters.’
  • Check the numbers after ‘-ch’ & ‘-c.’ It is pertinent to note that the Enterprise solutions work well with the following configuration.
  • -ch 512M, and
  • -c 256M.
  • If any error still comes up, then you need to verify that the data you entered is correct.

Step 1: Change the registry configuration:

  • In QuickBooks Desktop, save all of your work, including your company file and other essential data, and then ‘log out.’
  • To stop the QuickBooks Desktop Database service, open the command prompt and then type ‘stop QuickBooks DBXX’ and press the ‘Enter’
  • Now it’s time to modify the location in the Windows registry:

‘HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QuickBooksDBxx\Parameters.’

  • The current value should look like -n QB_SERVER_NAME -qs -gd ALL -gk all -gp 4096 – gu all -ch 256M -c 128M…

Step 2: Changes suggested by Intuit are as follows:

  • You need to change ‘-ch 512M’ to ‘-ch 128M’.
  • In the case of unlimited, delete ‘-ch 256M’ and ‘-ch 512M’.
  • Values should appear as ‘-n QB_SERVER_NAME -qs -gd ALL -gk all -gp 4096 -gu all.’
  • Change ‘-c 128M’ to ‘-c 256M.’
  • Also, change ‘-ch 256M’ to ‘-ch 512M.
  • If you recognize the settings to be at their recommended levels, then there is no need to alter them. These files do not address the underlying cause of your performance issues.
  • Save the changes that you made.
  • Type ‘.net start QuickBooksDBXX’ in the command prompt (xx infers your QB software version year).
  • Open QuickBooks software and then open the company file.
  • Before choosing an option, ensure that QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 14.0 or 15.0 has been updated to the latest release.
