Error code 231
If you’ve started scanning a paper using imageCLASS and the device isn’t able to finish the scan because of insufficient disk space. Therefore, clear or remove additional and unnecessary files, then try scanning one more.
Error code 242 and 243
The error codes 242 and 243 show when your system can’t write and read the file. In this case, a settings (General Settings) dialog box of “Folder to Save Temporary Files” appears (of find it), so check on this box to grant permission. You can otherwise save it in the relative Settings dialog box.
Error code 244
When your system can’t access the specified folder due to no required privileges, then the 244 code shows you an error message. It takes a little step to solve this; simply grant the permission for that folder.
Error code 245
This error code has a few causes that generate issues in detecting text. Hence, you’ve to check a few things on your document. To resolve this, check the below points.
- Ensure document settings and the text in a document has the same Language.
- The document should have text. Otherwise, you may experience issues with the blank document.
- Unsupported detection text should not be scanned.
How to reinstall MF Scan Utility for Canon imageCLASS?

- Make sure you uninstall the complete MF Scan Utility setup from your PC.

- Visit www.usa.canon.com website.
- You will soon reach on the Canon home page.
- Take your mouse pointer on the top right and click on the “DRIVERS & DOWNLOADS” tab.

- The MF Scan Utility should be listed here.
- Select the latest version and click Download.

Installing Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool
Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool automatically downloads when you download MP drivers on your system. If you install MP drivers for the Canon printer, the tool will be installed itself.
- You can insert the CD-ROM shipped with canon printer or download MP drivers from the Canon support site.
- Then, double-click on the downloaded file icon to start the installation.
- Take the appropriate and follow the instructions shown on the installation screen.
- When the additional drivers appear, install them as well to run the Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool on your PC.
- On the completion of installation, click on the Complete tab.
To disable the setting from computer/laptop device –
If you’ve already installed the Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool, follow the below steps;
- Run and open the Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool.
In printer – Maintenance > Maintenance and Preferences.
In windows – Start > All Programs > Canon Utilities > IJ Printer Assistant Tool.
- Now, select the Auto Power option.
- Click on Disable tab. This option is for Auto Power Off > OK.
From operation panel –
If you don’t find the above steps reliable for your system, then use your Canon printer to change the settings;
- Ensure the Canon model is power on.
- In the operation panel, press the Setup button.
- Now, use << or >> (left or right button) and stay on ECO settings > OK.
- Again, use the same tabs and choose EnergySaveSettings> OK.
- Press << or >> to select Auto power off > OK.
- Now, use the same button to reach on OFF option. Select OFF > OK.
The above setting changes should prevent your Canon printer from turning off unexpectedly; however, if there’s any other issue, you must check your printer in the nearby Canon service center.
